(HUNTSVILLE, AL) – Team Davidson is pleased to announce the promotion of Walter Hough to Vice President, Software Solutions. Hough, who most recently served as Senior Director of Software Solutions, brings extensive experience in defense sector innovation and program management to this key leadership position.
Hough will fill the role previously held by James Lackey, who was recently named Davidson’s Chief Operating Officer. As Vice President, Software Solutions, Hough will play a critical role in driving the company’s strategic initiatives, leading advanced software solutions development, and expanding Davidson’s capabilities to meet the evolving needs of the Department of Defense and its partners.
Hough’s tenure at Davidson began in January 2022 as Deputy Program Manager, and he quickly progressed to Program Manager and later Senior Director, Software Solutions. In these roles, he demonstrated exceptional leadership and technical expertise, most notably through his management of two transformative programs.
He oversaw the implementation of a strategic initiative supporting the Guam Defense System, delivering advanced artificial intelligence and modeling and simulation capabilities to the Missile Defense Agency. Additionally, he led a research and development program for the United States Air Force’s Advanced Battle Management System, coordinating cutting-edge AI solutions across all 5 warfare domains: land, sea, air, space, and cyberspace.

Hough’s career began with distinguished service in the United States Navy, where he earned multiple accolades, including two Navy Achievement Medals and recognition as Sailor of the Quarter and Sailor of the Year Runner-Up. Following his military service, he transitioned to industry leadership roles at Teledyne Brown Engineering, where he supported mission-critical programs for the Naval Health Research Center and Extended Air Defense Simulation. His extensive experience includes managing federal proposals, achieving CMMI Level 3 certification, and contributing to the development of advanced simulation capabilities used by agencies across the globe.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Hough holds a Master of Science in Engineering Management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Leadership from Lipscomb University. He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), and Shipley-certified in managing and writing federal proposals.
Hough’s leadership extends beyond his professional responsibilities. He is an active member of Leadership Greater Huntsville, where he has participated in both the Management Academy and Connect programs, and he has served as Board President of InsideOut Studios, a nonprofit organization. Hough was most recently named the Scholarship Director of the AFCEA Huntsville Chapter. His dedication to community engagement and mentorship reflects his commitment to fostering growth and development both within and outside the workplace.
